our next stop was turangi. it was to be our base for tramping the tongariro crossing. unfortunately, the weather was too windy to allow us to do the hike, so we left a day early. here's a picture of stormy lake taupo on our way to turangi, taken from inside the car, and a picture of mugwai, the adorable resident wheaten terrier at our hostel in turangi. if we ever got a dog, it would have to be a wheaten terrier.
