our next place to visit in new zealand was rotorua. it's a hotbed of geothermal activity, and a center of maori culture. here are a couple pictures of a maori welcome ceremony we watched while visiting te puia & the whakarewarewa thermal valley.

you can't really tell from the photos, but it was actually really cold and windy the day that we were in Rotorua. We definitely didn't envy these Maori having to dress up to give their cultural show to us in that weather.
