our trip from bellagio to positano was an experience. we got up really early to catch a ferry at 8 from bellagio to varenna. that all went well, but when we got to the train station, the time we had looked up on the internet was incorrect. the train we had wanted left 5 min before we got there, so we had to wait until the 10:20 train to milan. luckily it was on time, so we got into milan around 11:30. we grabbed a taxi and made it to the linate airport (the smaller, local, dingy one) in 20 min. our flight was at 12:50, so we had an hour to check in. the airport was packed, dirty, and hot. the plane was the same. we bought our tickets through lufthansa, but the carrier was air one. the seats were tiny even for me, and there was an italian man sitting next to me who totally hogged the armrest and read a newspaper by jamming his arm in front of my face. not fun. the flight ended up being late, and it took forever getting off the plane. we had called our hotel earlier to have them arrange for a driver to take us to positano, but nobody was there holding our name when we walked out of the gate area. we called the hotel to find out what was going on, and eventually we connected with the driver, but it was pretty scary. the ride was just over an hour, but a crazy twisty ride. we both arrived with fairly uneasy stomachs. long day of travel. we had left in the morning before 8am, and arrived there around 4pm.
