climbing?

our little pumpkin is already looking for climbing holds...

father's day

this past weekend was father's day.  j got to go on a mountain biking ride on saturday, and we spent the day with both our families at my parents' house in tigard.  here's a pic of z with auntie m.  i was really tired last weekend.  i took 2 naps on sunday before the bbq!

8 months

so, as i mentioned previously, zane is now 8 1/2 months.  he loves walking (with our help, of course), and is relying less & less on us.  on good days, he can pull himself up on the base of his crib.  we just tried dairy products (yogurt), and will try some protein (chicken) in the next few days.  we're trying to teach him to feed himself little pieces of cereal.  he can pick them up, but likes to throw them on the floor instead of putting them into his mouth.  i was doing some online research about teaching your child to feed him/herself, and am now scared of what i have ahead of me.  i thought i had a lot of cleaning up to do now, but i guess now is the easy part...

our cute little elf.  thanks for the outfit, auntie m!

i got to go running a couple of times on the beach while in lincoln city, and j & z always came to meet me at the end.  z looks pretty pensive & serious in these shots.

we followed this stupid truck the whole way from newport back to lincoln city.  i took a picture because we couldn't believe they actually thought it was a good idea to have the cooler so precariously attached to the car.

after the aquarium, we went to stop at the rogue brewery for lunch.  there was a long wait when we arrived, and z was getting super fussy.  at first we abandoned the idea, and went back to the car, but then decided to try feeding him there.  he settled down, and i went back up to save a place in line.  after i was seated, j & z met me there, and z eventually passed out in the stroller.
mommy got to carry sleepy z back to the car.  it's pure bliss carrying such a warm cuddly mass of sleepiness.

his tiny body is so cute!

here's one final picture from the aquarium...

we took little z to the oregon aquarium in newport for the first time.  he had lots of fun!  here he is with dad across from me looking through a tank.
here was the place where you can pet the sting rays (barbs removed, of course) and star fish.
here he is with mommy, looking at some aquatic birds.
here he is, chillin', with dad.  kickin' back, downin' a bottle or two.

this one reminded us of vinny...

ahhh... the joys of the summer solstice.  sunlight until late in the day.  late enough to put the pumpkin to bed, and then enjoy some good wine & a dip in the hot tub to watch the sunset.  the weather was fantastic at the coast, making some beautiful sunsets!

here's a small movie of z playing with his daddy in the pool.

yay!  i love the pool!

swimming with daddy is so much fun!!!

here are some pics of z right before we went swimming.  i'm trying to take as many pictures as i can at this age, WHILE i can.  at some point he either: won't be as cute, or won't let me take his picture.  so, here's his coy style...
here's his GQ (or fred meyer, a la Mikey) model-in-training pose.

and here's his playful side.  finally warming up for the camera!  :)

z started to hold on to us & scoot forward.  he didn't do this before the trip!

this is what j ate & drank about 15 min before leaving for a big lunch.  (because z has such an early bedtime, we went out for lunch, & ate dinner in.)  mountain dew & a cookie-brownie.  j is NOT going to be able to get away with such dietary habits soon - he'll need to set a good example for junior.  he better get it all out of his system now...

we spent the 13th-17 in lincoln city.  just after z turned 8 months!  HAPPY BELATED 8 MONTH BIRTHDAY, Z!  no idea how much he weighs... anyway, we had a wonderful time.  here are some pics & videos from our vacation.  you can see the hot tub on the balcony through the window.  good times.
here he is playing on our bed.  everything was so nice in the condo we rented, and didn't want to get anything dirty.  i hadn't thought to bring blankets (will certainly next time), but luckily there were 3 black towels in the unit that we used the whole time.  z still spits up quite a lot.

he finally cracked his signature smile for the camera!

bathtime cutie

look ma!  you don't have to hold me!  i can stand here all by myself!  yay!  go z.  here he is, ready for his bath with his mommy.  he's so darn cute!

don't tell his mother!!!!

this was a weekend of getting things done.  j cleaned off our roof.  the oak tree in the back yard sheds a lot, and especially after the THUNDERSTORM on thursday, there was extra stuff to clear off.  we shopped for rugs, i made baby food, vacuumed the joint... nothing exciting.  j climbed today.  z napped a really long time today in the afternoon.  i wish he would do that more frequently!

z's first visit to japanese gardens

last sunday, j & i took z to the japanese gardens for the first time.  we enjoyed taking lots of pictures.  our little pumpkin is so cute at this age (or at least WE think so), and we're having so much fun with him!  i think he was a little confused by our leaving him all by himself to step away & take these...

takin' a break...
i love his little chubby legs!

z's first visit to japanese gardens

we were having fun playing peekaboo with the little windows in this shelter.

our little guy is big for his age, but still so small.  it was hard to get a good picture of him + the whole shelter.  either it was a close up, or too far away to really get details...

the previous few pictures were taken down in that little shelter that you see here in the background.
